About HomeSlice Stays | Scottsdale Rentals
Meet Ellie Paget, Founder of HomeSlice Stays
Hi, I'm Ellie Paget. People at HomeSlice Stays jokingly call me the "Chief Officer of Disruption," but here's the honest version: I'm the person who will lose sleep over how your home makes a guest feel the moment they walk in the door. I founded HomeSlice Stays to run a small number of exceptional Scottsdale and Paradise Valley homes the way I'd run my own, and I want to tell you why that obsession matters for your property.
From Fine Dining to Five-Star Homes
Before hospitality, I cooked, in some of the top restaurants in DC and aboard National Geographic expedition cruises. That background is the entire reason I run properties the way I do. In a great restaurant, a guest never sees the choreography: the timing, the lighting, the way the wine is poured, the dozen small details that align at exactly the right moment to create a feeling. The guest doesn't analyze it. They just remember that it was perfect.
A home is the same. When someone arrives at one of our properties, every touchpoint has been thought through, from the first photo that made them book, to the temperature of the room, to what's waiting in the refrigerator. The culinary world's standard of attention to detail is brutal, and it translates directly into hospitality that guests can feel and can't quite explain. That's the standard I hold your home to.
A hotel lobby is engineered to do something specific in the first ten seconds, it makes you feel received. The arrival moment, the focal point your eye lands on, the lighting that flatters, the scale that signals "you've arrived somewhere." Most rental living rooms are decorated; ours are staged for arrival the way a five-star lobby is.
High-Tech, High-Touch, and Genuinely Personal
I'm energized by the design side of this work in a way I don't apologize for. We are usually branding the house itself with a logo and a unique identifier. Each property isn't "a rental," it's a named entity with its own mark, its own identity, carried consistently from the listing to the welcome book to the home itself. That's not common, and it's exactly what turns a property into a destination people seek out by name and rebook.
But the technology and the design are only half of it. The other half is the high-touch part: a string quartet for an anniversary stay, a private chef for a family dinner, a magical backyard picnic set up while guests are out, the dog groomer for the pet that came along. No request is ever too big, too small, or too strange. That's the difference between a transaction and an experience, and experiences are what make guests come back year after year.
The One Thing Most Companies Get Wrong
Empathy. It sounds soft until you realize it's the entire business. You have to genuinely put yourself in the guest's shoes and ask how every single touchpoint lands for them. Too many management companies only think about their own bottom line, they send canned messages, they won't spend the extra dollar or the extra hour to elevate the brand, and the whole stay becomes purely transactional. I think that's backwards. The entire point of building a brand is to make a real connection. A property that connects is a property that performs.
What I Tell Every Owner I Work With
A few things I believe deeply, after more than a decade doing this:
Have an identity from day one. Most homes underperform because they were pieced together without a vision. Start from who the guest is and the experience you want to create, and every decision after that, furniture, photos, finishes, becomes intentional and the property becomes unmistakable.
Know your goals before you spend a dollar. A real plan is what turns a nice house into a high-performing asset, and it's what lets the property grow instead of just exist.
And relationships are everything. The returning-guest and Spring Training relationships we've built over years aren't luck, they're the result of treating people like people. You're only as good as the care you put in and the company you keep.
Let's Talk About Your Home
If you've read this far, you can probably tell I love this work. That's exactly what you want running your property, someone who treats your home like it's worth obsessing over, because at the level we operate, it is. We deliberately take on only a handful of luxury homes in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley so each one gets this kind of attention.
If you own a luxury home here, or you're about to, I'd genuinely love to talk it through with you. No script, no pressure, just a real conversation about what your property could be.
