Meet Ellie Paget with Voyage Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Paget.

Ellie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. I started in the hospitality industry cooking, working 15-hour days. I worked for top names like Tom Douglas, Ethan Stowell in downtown Seattle, and on a cruise ship in Alaska for National Geographic. From there, I moved to D.C. where I ranked up and became Sous Chef of Barcelona Wine Bar and Brasserie Beck. It was a lot of managing chaos, which was normal after 10 years of cooking. When I was interviewing for Top Chef D.C., I discovered I was pregnant with my first son, Ace. So I went another route into real estate and started managing Airbnbs through a Craigslist ad. I then became Director of Operations after a year and closed my first million-dollar transaction. I was moved to Phoenix and started working with a company doing close to $1 billion in development downtown as hospitality/investor acquisition. In February 2019, I took the leap and began HomeSlice. I recognized multifamily owners and developers were asking for our services and needed continuity for short-term rentals in their operating model for ROI. I offered all that they could ask for and more. My first deal was a $7.5 million hometel in Old Town Scottsdale.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? If you’ve ever seen a squiggly line that little kids draw, draw an X somewhere in the middle — that is the path to where we are today. My dad always said, "Prior planning prevents piss poor performance." He was right. All the years of hard work helped me build a focus in my practice of business that is secure and confident in times of high stress. The hardest part of the job is determining which partnerships to establish that are aligned with the vision of HomeSlice.

Please tell us more about your business. HomeSlice is a national short-term rental management company. We aid our multifamily owners, operators, and vacation rental investors in several layers: purchase/acquisition, design/staging, branding/marketing, guest management/reservations, and smart tech integration/optimization and maximizing efficiency. We assist our guests by providing a high-tech, high-touch experience. Inside our hometels is the latest in smart technology — with a tablet, a guest can customize their experience. We provide only the best amenities and facilitate partnerships with well-known local brands. We even offer boutique artisan services tailored to guests’ needs. Guests can rent a Tesla with their stay or request a chef, private trainer, or butler. They can visit a local restaurant and say “Hey HomeSlice” to get 15% off their order. Home is a place within someone or somewhere that you feel you need to return to over and over. It’s our model to give people that sense wherever they go when they stay with us. As CEO, I am honored to witness clients and guests feel like they are valued and appreciated. Energy is the world’s currency.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success? The most important quality I possess is the capacity to be attentive to my clients and guests. Truly listening with intention and respect pauses the self-ego. There is a pace to the business model we pride ourselves on — it’s built on integrity, transparency, efficiency, and continuity.
